I don’t watch Formula E, and I’ve heard that it’s actually pretty good, but I was just reading about
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
, where race fans can vote online for their favorite driver to receive “one five-second ‘power boost’. . . temporarily increasing their car’s power from 150kw (202.5bhp) to 180kw (243bhp).” Is it just me and Samir, or do others of you think this is a horrible idea, a stupid gimmick?

There are probably other video game-based gimmicks of idiocy they have planned - just you wait.

This is some hipster marketing persons idea. This isn’t American Idol, it’s a race.

I’m hoping for blue shells and banana peels.

Next it’ll be “Fans can buy mountain dew and Doritos for exclusive codes. Once enterted online they can vote to call in CoD Air Strikes mid race to spice up the action!”

You know what? Let’s just make the whole thing a popularity contest and run 100 parade laps for the fans.

I can’t wait.

I have watched it. Honestly it is kind of shit. The cars are painful to listen to, the car swaps just look awkward and the racing isn’t that close.
Think about it, if they need stupid gimmicks like this, it can’t be that good.

Blue shells - no, but green shells? Yes, please!
If you “hit” the person in front of you, it could drop their power momentarily. Man, think of how fun a karting racing series might be if you had the ability to mess with other drivers like this... I love pure racing, but that would be fun.

super duper dumb.

I’m down for this.

I’m sure this will be hitting NASCAR soon - dial 888-BUBBA-JR!

I like watching Formula E.... FE? .... The drivers are from all around and the boosts usually ends up successful in race situations. Cool to see how the hometown drivers usually gets it. Gets the crowd into it

“Dale Earnhardt Jr. sweeps entire season winning all 32 races”

We can make it a reality talent show. Each time someone gets voted off, they lose all throttle input.
I would call it -
American Idle.

This is very similar to DRS zones in Formula 1 except I’m certain it would be worse. I don’t even think DRS is right either.

I despise DRS.

It’s more like KERS or Push-To-Pass in IndyCar. Except you only get it once.
![]() 04/30/2015 at 16:28 |

Oh true, I had completely forgotten about KERS. Bah, screw em both.

KERS is slightly more interesting as it’s an energy harvesting thing but I’m still not a fan of it.
